Detroit’s hardcore punk outfit Come Out Fighting just dropped a two-track appetizer for their forthcoming full-length album, Any Port in a Storm.

Any Port in a Storm is the second of three albums rotating around the concept of seafaring, which is a simile for going on tour. Aweigh All Anchors, released last year, was the first album of the trio.

Made up of Nate Jose Garcia (guitar, vocals), Brian Stewarts (guitar, backing vocals), Dan Bruce (bass), Casey Husted (drums), and Nick Rudowyj (lead vocals), the band is a conglomeration of former Tommy Gunn members and present members of Aggro Or Die, The Purps, and Given Grey.

Come Out Fighting just finished their tour of the East Coast, and will be followed by taking off in May, first to the Southern states and then to a German festival in Europe.

“Blackout” opens on rampaging guitars and drums blazing with thrash-like speed. A fat bass-filled breakdown leads into searing guitars infusing the tune with wildly ferocious energy. Rudowyj’s growling vocals give the lyrics tight, urgent intensity. As the song culminates, it takes on even more savagery, as Husted’s frenetic percussion provides the pummeling foundation.

“Soundtrack To A Shipwreck” rides stuttering riffs atop a merciless rhythm that teeter-totters with vicious colors and scorching tones. Screaming vocals backed by more melodic harmonies imbue the tune with dualistic layers of tonal hues. The depth of the guitars on this track projects the hefty black coloration of doom metal traveling on punk velocity. Guitar heavy breakdowns, thrumming with grinding muscularity, offer superb sonic shifts.

Both tracks deliver potent fields of rough and tough hardcore punk focused along a single axis of pulsating spitfire harmonics, unrelenting and devoid of any indication of relief. The sonic aura emanating from Come Out Fighting is one of lethal expertise.

Come Out Fighting does more than come out fighting. This band launches an accumulation of punk power with palpable energy.
